Marketing Is Making Meaning

If you’re having trouble with marketing, don’t think of it as marketing. Think of it as making meaning. You can “make meaning” by telling stories, or making short videos like what I’m doing here in the video. You can do it with pictures on Instagram or Facebook that include detailed captions.

With Marketing, Brevity Usually Rules

Keep this “make meaning” content brief. “Keep it simple” means short and to the point. Brevity rules. As I said, marketing is making meaning. Do it daily and keep it brief and to the point.

Don’t Think In Terms of “Authenticity” and “Transparency,” Think In Terms of Meaningful and Honest

A lot of marketing people talk about “authenticity” and “transparency.” Authenticity is marketing jargon for meaningful. Transparency is marketing jargon for honest.

Whatever you’re trying to sell; whatever you’re marketing, it has to be meaningful to you. If it isn’t, you won’t come across with meaningfulness and honestly. That’s your job as a marketer, to make things meaningful for an intended audience.

Here Is A Summary Of Those 3 Quick Marketing Tips For Smart Beginners

So here are those three quick tips:

1. Make meaning with your marketing. Make meaning for an intended audience.

2. Do number one (above) every day. Do it with video. Do it with written text. Keep it brief and to the point.

3. Don’t think about being “authentic” and “transparent” in so much that you’re fulfilling a marketing agenda. Instead, focus on being meaningful and honest as an internal value to keep yourself grounded.
